Board of Directors

Allie Briley

JP Morgan Chase

Allie first got involved with REbeL as a volunteer at the walk, seeing high school students so involved and positive and lifting each other up instead of the alternative! She is in the Commercial Banking division at Chase, but her background in non-profits adds another level of passion to her involvement.  In addition to REbeL, she’s a huge fan of the work Ozanam, Sleepyhead Beds and Happy Bottoms are doing for the kids in KC. She lives in Lenexa with her two sons but you can find her most frequently at the zoo or the park if it’s nice outside.

Dr. RS Hawley

Stowers Institute

RS Hawley is a research scientist (specifically a geneticist) and teacher with a passion for seeing the beauty in the complexity of each person. He believes that it is our diversity that allows for the joy we find in each other and in our communities. He has been a committed REbeL for four years and considers serving on its Board of Directors as a true honor.

Chelsea Rohde

Chelsea currently works for Pandora Media (the online radio, not the jewelry) in a growing Kansas City satellite office. She was introduced to REbeL because of her involvement in Ad 2 and REbeL’s selection to be Ad 2’s public service client for the year. REbeL’s mission and message really resonated with her and when a co-worker who was serving on the board was relocated, she happily joined the board in her place working on Marketing Communications. Outside of REbeL, work, and Ad 2 (a part of the American Advertising Federation-Kansas City), she loves to sew, enjoy good food, hang with her hubby and making up her own bootcamp workout routines at the gym.

Marcy Langhofer

Northwestern Mutual

Marcy first became involved with REbeL when her daughters were among some of the first student members. She has seen firsthand the impact REbeL has had in their lives not only in high school but also as they have moved through their time at KU.
A native to Johnson County, she has been happily married to Tom for 30 years. Professionally, she works in the financial services industry where she guides clients on applications and underwriting.  On weekends, you can find her at the lake if she can get there, or up in Lawrence enjoying KU activities and her girls!

Carolyn Potter

Blue Valley Northwest High School

Carolyn joined the REbeL Board of Directors because her students are growing up in a society where it’s easier to criticize yourself than love yourself, and she knows this needs to change. She feels that everyone has something unique and beautiful to contribute to the world, but not everyone recognizes this in themselves. She believe that REbeL is helping students to better see the beauty in themselves and others, and through this program she knows that we have the power to change the world.

Natalia Kidder

Shawnee Mission Northwest High School

Natalia is so happy to be a part of an organization that has a part in changing lives. She has struggled with body image issues her entire life. She has seen a great change in how she views herself and others since joining REbeL. She is excited to strengthen her leadership skills as a part of the board and to work with such wise professionals from all walks of life.

Dr. Jennifer Lundgren

Dr. Lundgren is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Professor, and Chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is also a mother of two who wants her children to grow up feeling confident and loved, no matter what they look like. For over 15 years, she has studied disordered eating behavior, body image, and weight stigma. She is grateful to have the opportunity to work with REbeL, researching its efficacy and working to ensure that its outstanding programming is grounded in an evidence base.

Dr. Tonya Merrigan

Blue Valley School District

Dr. Merrigan’s career has been devoted to working with high school students first as a teacher, then as a counselor and finally as an administrator at both the building and district level. She has seen firsthand how both girls and boys have struggled with body image and what it does to their self-esteem and self-worth. She views REbeL as a shining star and that its intervention has made progress with students on this issue as it engages students in the process. She is honored to serve as a board member and continue this work with even more students. She believes REbeL is changing the lives of students and I am privileged to witness it.
